Since starting out in 2014, US country star Jon Pardi has dropped three well-received albums packed full of neotraditional country missives and fiddle ditties, from 2014's Write You a Song (2014), to 2016's California Sunrise (2016), and 2019's Heartache Medication(2019). To give fans a taste of what to expect from his forthcoming, as-yet-to-be-announced fourth album, the Nashville artist dropped this standalone single in 2022, "Last Night Lonely" on which he deftly captures that lonesome feeling of propping up the bar ("It could be your last night coming in here, drinking all by yourself / The last time giving your heart away to someone else") before hinting at a happy ending "(Yeah, we could be some history in the making girl, tonight / Might be your last night lonely"). "Last Night Lonely" went to Number 29 on the US Country chart and 23 on the US Country Airplay chart.
