Johnny Cash turned his attention to bluegrass standard on "Orange Blossom Special" in 1965, adding his voice to what is traditionally played as an instrumental track and naming his 1965 album Orange Blossom Special after the song. This fiddle ditty takes its namesake from the titular (discontinued) passenger train that connects railroads between New York City and Miami, and sets out its locomotive theme in the opening verse; "Look a-yonder comin' / Comin' down that railroad track / Hey, look a-yonder comin' / Comin' down that railroad track / It's the Orange Blossom Special / Bringin' my baby back". In its original iteration, "Orange Blossom Special" was written by Ervin T. Rouse (1917–1981) in 1938, who first recorded the song with his brother Gordon the following year, and is often called "The Special" or "OBS" also known as "the fiddle player's national anthem".
