One of the most inspiring success stories in country music, singer-songwriter Jimmie Allen was born in Delaware but moved to Nashville in 2007 with the hopes of making it in the music industry. After a period of homelessness, he successfully auditioned for the singing competition American Idol and slowly but surely built an audience through sheer talent and charisma. Over the next few years, he became the first Black artist to claim the top spot on the Country Airplay chart with his 2018 single "Best Shot" and won New Artist of the Year at the 2021 Country Music Association Awards. One of the key figures behind Jimmie Allen's success was his father, who unfortunately passed away in 2019. On March 8, 2022, the singer paid homage to his late dad on the heartwarming country-rock tune "Down Home," written with Cameron Bedell, Rian Ball, and Tate Howell. The song was released as the lead single from his third LP Tulip Drive and debuted at Number 47 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
