In 2020, Maryland-born country artist Jackson Dean made the pilgrimage to Nashville and scored a deal with Big Machine, dropping his self-titled EP for the label the following year. He made his first mark on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts with 2022 single "Don't Come Lookin'," (which was featured on hit TV show Yellowstone) and kept up the momentum on "Fearless (The Echo)." This loved-up country ode uses daring acts to contrast with the protagonist's sense of vulnerability. "I got thick skin, I'll dive in, I'm fearless / Except when it comes to you," he confesses, underscored by gruff vocals, steel guitar and blustering, gritty production. "Fearless (The Echo)" was released as a maxi-single in 2023 along with the tracks "Fearless" and the aforementioned country hit "Don't Come Lookin'." The success of the single paved the way for Jackson Dean's New Male Artist of the Year nod at the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards.
