American rock group The J. Geils Band released their fifth album Nightmares…and Other Tales from the Vinyl Jungle in September 1974, a conscious move towards incorporating some more funk elements into their sound. One of the best examples of this approach was also one of the biggest hits in the band’s career, the single “Must of Got Lost.” A hooky, upbeat number filled with guitarist J. Geils’s trademark guitar licks, “Must of Got Lost” has been hailed as one of the band’s best songs. The song was written by Peter Wolf and Seth Justman. The single peaked at Number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, as well as Number 17 on the US Cash Box Top 100 chart. A live version of the song, featuring a lengthy spoken-word introduction by vocalist Peter Wolf, would be included in the band’s live album Blow Your Face Out (1976), with many praising it as the definitive version of the song. The studio version of the song appears as part of the 2004 Disney movie Miracle, as well as on the HBO TV series Eastbound & Down.
