France's very own rock 'n' roll trailblazer Johnny Hallyday was largely responsible for popularising the phenomenon in the country and after kicking off his career in the early 1960s, he became a national icon famed for his French-speaking covers of US hits, amassing nearly 80 albums before his death in 2017. "J'oublierai ton nom" (I will forget your name) was penned by another French-born legend, Jean-Jacques Goldman, and Michael Jones for Johnny Hallyday and released as a single in 1987. The bilingual power ballad comprises both a Johnny Hallyday-sung French section and an English section sung by Carmel and became the second single from Johnny Hallyday's 35th album Gang, which was released in 1986 and produced by Jean-Jacques Goldman. This live version of the stadium-sized "J'oublierai ton nom" was captured at Johnny Hallyday's Parc des Princes concert in Paris in 2003 and contained on the DVD of the same name.
