Imagine Dragons gazed deep into their souls for their second US Top 10 single, "Demons." Released in January 2013 and featured on the band's major-label debut EP, Continued Silence – which reached Number 40 on the Billboard 200 – "Demons" was written by Imagine Dragons – singer Dan Reynolds, lead guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman – and produced by Alex da Kid. The song sees Dan Reynolds own up about his flaws over a barrage of spiky pop-rock beats: "When you feel my heat, look into my eyes / It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide / Don't get too close; it's dark inside / It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide." "Demons" hung around for 12 weeks in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and stuck at Number 6 for four of these. The track was used as the theme song for the 2015 Chinese 3D adventure action film, Jiu ceng yao ta (Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe).
