Smooth and largely acoustic, the song is an emotional trip that sees the band turn down their amps and pull the plug on their metalcore screaming for a heart-on-its-sleeve tear-jerker about "chasing love that can never be mine". "My Heart I Surrender” is featured on the band's debut studio album Lifelines (2016), which sees the group set out their stall with a tight collection of high-voltage post-hardcore and emo tracks that pack a serious punch. Lifelines peaked at number five on the US Top Rock Albums chart and was later certified gold in Canada. Album track "Come and Get It" became the official theme song for NXT TakeOver: Orlando in 2017.
