This bewitching revamp of "One Way or Another" appeared in the 2022 sequel to Hocus Pocus, with the original cast of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones all returning to take up their posts. In the new movie, the angular new wave guitars of Blondie's 1979 hit are brought to life by the witches for a live performance, much like we saw with the song "I Put A Spell On You" in the original film. Blondie's Debbie Harry was inspired to write "One Way or Another" following a real-life experience with a stalker ("I will drive past your house / And if the lights are all down / I'll see who's around") and the song's jaunty melody certainly does wonders to disguise its darker content. Written by Debbie Harry and Nigel Harrison, "One Way or Another" was contained on Blondie's seminal 1979 album Parallel Lines, which went to number one in the UK as well as reaching number six in the US, giving the group their highest-charting US LP to date.
