Sydney, Australia's Hillsong United first came together in 1998 as a worship band originating from the now controversial, scandal-ridden global megachurch Hillsong Church, with the band helmed by rotating worship leaders from the church that have included including Joel Houston, Taya Smith-Gaukrodger and Matt Crocker. All three of the aforementioned members are credited on "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)," the second and final single from the group's third studio album, Zion (2013). The religious song is directly inspired by Matthew 14:22-32 (where Jesus invites Peter to take a leap of faith onto the water), with lyrics like "You call me out upon the waters / The great unknown, where feet may fail / And there I find You in the mystery / In oceans deep, my faith will stand," and rose to the top of Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. It also picked up various awards at the 45th Annual GMA Dove Awards in 2014, including Song of the Year.
