"Sleigh Ride" is a holiday standard that was written by composer Leroy Anderson in 1948. Just like several other yuletide tunes in recent history, it was written during a heat wave. Its orchestral version was first recorded by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra in 1949 and quickly became one of the group's signature songs. In 1950, American lyricist Mitchell Parish added lyrics that referenced sleigh riding as well as other winter activities.
