"Washington on Your Side" is the 8th song on the Second Act of the revolutionary hip-hop Broadway musical Hamilton, entirely written by American singer, actor, and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda. Coming right after the diss track "Cabinet Battle #2," "Washington on Your Side" is performed by Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Okieriete Onaodowan (James Madison), and Daveed Diggs (Thomas Jefferson), as their characters make fun of Hamilton's close relationship with George Washington, calling him a fraud and a liar. The pace of the song starts rather slowly but then the speed of the rap increases as the discussion builds up in intensity. The track was originally included in the 2015 album Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording), which became the first Broadway cast album to ever reach the top of Billboard's Rap Albums chart, obtaining platinum certification a total of seven times. In 2019, it became the best-selling cast album in history.
