Stakes were high for Grammy-winning hard rock combo Halestorm after their albums Into the Wild Life (2015) and Vicious (2018) topped the rock charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The Pennsylvania four-piece began working on their next LP a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought their relentless touring schedule and subsequent recording plans to a screeching halt. Unable to record or play live, lead vocalist Lzzy Hale went through an identity crisis that led to an intense period of soul-searching. She documented her struggle with mental health during those dark days on "The Steeple," the second single from Halestorm's long-awaited fifth full-length Back From the Dead. Released in February 2022, the track is a story of survival and redemption, a show of strength in the face of adversity. Shortly after its commercial release, "The Steeple" climbed to Number 11 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.
