"Aimless Lady" is a song from the American rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Released on Closer to Home, their third studio album, the song is about a mysterious woman in the front row of a concert. "Aimless lady, is this your home town? / Tell me baby, tell me where you're bound / When our eyes met, you were in the very first row / I couldn't even guess your name, but I just had to know". Closer to Home was the Michigan-born trio's third gold record and it contains the hit "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)". Grand Funk Railroad had a history of being hated by rock critics but their fans didn’t care about that. In 1972, the band equaled the Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record and even sold out the venue in 72 hours while the Beatles had taken several weeks. The backing track for "Aimless Lady" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
