Written by Jack Wolf, Joel Herron, and Frank Sinatra, "I'm a Fool to Want You" is a dramatic ballad first recorded by the latter icon in March 1951 with the Ray Charles singers in an arrangement by Axel Stordahl. The lyrics for "I'm a Fool to Want You," built around a crescendoing orchestral arrangement, were co-written by none other than Frank Sinatra, making the song into something of a collector's item, and a rare feat for a singer in the early 1950s. Frank Sinatra released the song as a B-side single for Columbia Records in 1951, with "Mama Will Bark" (with Dagmar) on the A-side. Six years later, he recorded and released a version—his first stereo recording—for his thirteenth studio album Where Are You? Over the years, "I'm a Fool to Want You" ballooned into a bona fide jazz and pop standard that has now been covered by a whole plethora of artists, including Tony Bennett, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Sammy Davis Jr., Chet Baker, and many many more.
