“Cycles” is a song recorded by Frank Sinatra for his album of the same name in1968. Unlike much of his other material, this album features Sinatra singing a variety of folk-rock and country songs which included Judy Collin’s hit “Both Sides Now" and Glen Campbell’s “By the Time I Get to Phoenix”. “Cycles” was written by Gayle Caldwell from the New Christy Minstrels. Sinatra delivers the lyric with an understated weariness, singing “There isn't much that I have learned/ Through all my foolish years/ Except that life keeps runnin' in cycles/ First there's laughter, then those tears”. At 51, the artist was experiencing a low point in his personal and professional life and his ability to connect with the poignant lyric has made “Cycles” a fan favorite. The backing track for “Cycles” is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.

Augier1 2 years agoExcellent idea to issue this beautiful cover by Frank. Unfortunately, the string sections (which is so important here) is a bit weak. We need more violins. Thank you.
