British-American rock legends Foreigner was formed in New York City in 1976 by respected British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with soaring US vocalist Lou Gramm. The band hit the ground running with their self-titled debut the following year, bagging three enduring hit singles in "Feels Like the First Time," the heavily-sampled "Cold as Ice" and "Long, Long Way from Home". Released at the height of disco in 1977, the LP was an anachronistic statement of expertly crafted rock that nonetheless went all the way number four on the US album chart as well as hitting the Top 10 in Canada and Australia.
