"Drunken Lullabies" is a song by Celtic punk band, Flogging Molly. Vocalist Dave King was born in a two-room Dublin flat. After emigrating to the United States, he joined several rock bands but started composing music incorporating traditional Irish instruments. He formed a band and started playing at the LA Irish pub, Molly Malone's. "We used to play there every Monday night, and we felt like we were flogging it to death, so we called the band Flogging Molly." The lyrics of "Drunken Lullabies" describe past and present political conflicts while asking why people continue to fight while numbing themselves to sleep with drunken lullabies. But King remains hopeful. "But may these shadows rise to walk again / With lessons truly learnt / When the blossom flowers in each our hearts /
Shall beat a newfound flame."
