"Pepas" is the first single from Latin urban artist Farruko's ninth studio album La 167. It was released on June 24, 2021, and debuted atop Billboard's US Latin Airplay, Hot Latin Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, and Latin Digital Song Sales charts. Combining throbbing Latin rhythms such as Tribal guarachero and reggaeton with elements from electronic dance music, "Pepas" was written by Farruko with producers José Carlos García, Victor Alonso Cárdenas, Marcos "Sharo Towers" Pérez, Keriel "K4G" Quiroz, and Axel Rafael "Ghetto" Quezada Fulgencio. Thematically speaking, "Pepas" draws inspiration from the pre-COVID-19 dance parties and makes allusion to psychedelic drug use during the chorus, something that sparked quite a controversy upon its release.
