The title of "Nights Are Forever Without You" captures the intensity of insomnia, when the darkness of night-time feels infinite and sleep seems like a faraway dream. Penned by Mississippi songwriter Parker McGee and recorded by the 1970s duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, this 1976 red-eyed soft rock lullaby is written from the perspective of a painful breakup, where "Curtains still dance / With the wind and the sky / The sun will be coming up soon / But I just can't sleep for thinking of you / Here alone with the moon." Peppered with notes of country, "Nights Are Forever Without You" reached Number 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and Number 4 on the Easy Listening charts, and was the second single from England Dan & John Ford Coley's 1976 album Nights Are Forever, following their previous Top 10 hit "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight," which was also written by Parker McGee.
