Born Arnold George Dorsey, the decorated crooner known as Engelbert Humperdinck enjoyed a colourful career spanning five decades, taking in a Eurovision performance and 140 million record sales along the way. Beginning his career in the mid-'60s and keeping up the momentum well into the '70s with a constant string of hits and talked-about performances, by the '80s he showed no signs of slowing down and this jazzy rework of "We'll Meet Again" – where he reimagines the beloved Second World War favourite as a show tune fit for Broadway – is testament to his unshakeable hold on the spotlight. With music and lyrics originally composed and written by English songwriters Ross Parker and Hughie Charles and popularised by "Forces' Sweetheart" Vera Lynn in 1939, Englebert Humperdinck recorded his version of the song, complete with a fresh new arrangement, for his 1987 album, Remember - I Love You.
