"Lose Yourself" is a song by Eminem from the 2002 film 8 Mile. It was the lead single from the soundtrack and became the rapper's first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it remained for 12 consecutive weeks. 8 Mile served as Eminem's debut as an actor. He composed "Lose Yourself" in character, rapping about the struggles and rap dreams of Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith, but it could easily have been a page out of his own life story. Eminem grew up in an impoverished and unsettled environment. He worked odd jobs while trying to support his young daughter, all while honing his rap skills. His knack for storytelling and wordplay combined with self-determination made him one of the most respected rappers of all time.
"Lose Yourself" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003.
The backing track for "Lose Yourself" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
