Duran Duran went to number nine on the UK Singles Chart with "New Moon on Monday," the second single from their third album Seven and the Ragged Tiger (1983). Dripping with offbeat new wave charm, the song's mystical lyrics are open to interpretation. "I light my torch and wave it for the / New moon on Monday / And a firedance through the night / I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite / New moon on Monday / And a firedance through the night / I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite". However you choose to interpret the song, there's no denying it's up there among Duran Duran's greatest cuts. Although the same sadly can't be said for the music video, which both Duran Duran's Andy Taylor and Nick Rhodes have previoulsy confessed to hating. "Everybody ... hates it, particularly the dreadful scene at the end where we all dance together," wrote Andy Taylor in his memoir, Wild Boy: My Life in Duran Duran.
