This breakout single from Dutch singer-songwriter Duncan Laurence earned the Netherlands the crown at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel – and became a smash hit all over the world. A smouldering, percussive trip through heartbreak, "Arcade" chronicles the artist's experience of loss, in a song where he wears his vulnerability on his sleeve notably in the opening verse. "A broken heart is all that's left / I'm still fixing all the cracks / Lost a couple of pieces when / I carried it, carried it, carried it home / I'm afraid of all I am / My mind feels like a foreign land / Silence ringing inside my head / Please, carry me, carry me, carry me home," he sings. A record-breaking feat for Duncan Laurence, "Arcade" was certified gold in the US and in April 2021 became the first Eurovision winner in 45 years to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100. A duet version of the song featuring US singer Fletcher arrived in November 2020.
