Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway's "Where Is the Love" stands as a hallmark of early 1970s soul, blending their emotive vocals into a seamless duet. Crafted by songwriters Ralph MacDonald and William Salter, the track was recorded between March and October 1971 and featured on their collaborative album, Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway, released in April 1972. Upon its release, the song resonated with audiences, climbing to number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and securing the top spot on both the Billboard Easy Listening and R&B charts. Its success was further cemented when it earned the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1973. Lyrically, the song delves into the anguish of unreciprocated love, with the protagonists yearning for a deeper connection. The arrangement's understated instrumentation allows Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway's harmonies to shine, creating an intimate and heartfelt listening experience. Decades later, "Where Is the Love" remains a timeless classic, exemplifying the duo's profound musical synergy.

Melloton2 7 years agoI would love to buy it but the feel of the original is not there at all. The synth bass and the drum machine don't help either. Nothing like a real bass player and drummer to give it the right feel. If interested I could send you the mp3 original. It is such a great song. TY.
