Written by Danny Flowers and recorded by late country star and inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame Don Williams, "Tulsa Time" is a straightforward song about home. "Tulsa Time" immediately locates the nomadic singer out on the road: "I left Oklahoma, drivin' in a Pontiac / Just about to lose my mind / I was goin' to Arizona, maybe on to California / Where the people all live so fine," but ultimately the pull of Tulsa draws him back. Don Williams released "Tulsa Time" in October 1978 as the first single from his Expressions album and it gave him his eighth country chart Number 1. Eric Clapton also brought the song to life for his 1978 album Backless, with the British legend taking a live version from his album Just One Night to Number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1980. After Don Williams' death from emphysema on September 8, 2017, country duo Brothers Osborne performed "Tulsa Time" in a fitting tribute during the 51st Annual Country Music Association Awards on November 8, 2017.
