Written by Isaac Hayes along with lyricist Adrienne Anderson and immortalized by Dionne Warwick for her Barry Manilow-produced best-selling album Dionne, "Déjà Vu" is a luxe soul number that dipped its suede-clad toes into the adult contemporary market. The song, in which Dionne Warwick conjures a romantic scene with dreamy affirmations of her love ("This is divine / I've been waiting all my life / Filling time / Looking for you"), topped the Adult Contemporary chart in January 1980 while also making it to Number 25 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles.
