Money is for spending, but only if you've got it, as "The King of Cool" Dean Martin reminds us on this creamy slice of '50s orchestral confection. "Money burns a hole in my pocket / How I wish I had millions of dollars and nothing to do / But just buy pretty presents for you," croons the late legendary entertainer, before adding; "Money burns a hole in my pocket / How I wish I had oil wells in Texas to keep me supplied / With money while I sit by your side". With music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Hilliard, "Money Burns a Hole in my Pocket" was recorded by Dean Martin for the 1954 American comedy film Living It Up, in which he starred alongside Jerry Lewis. Released by Paramount Pictures, the movie follows the adventures of railroad worked Homer Flagg who is mistakenly given only three weeks to live and is granted an all-expenses-paid trip to see New York.
