"I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)" is a classic pop standard penned by Fred E. Ahlert and Roy Turk. The track is a sentimental ballad about a person openly expressing their feelings for someone who is aloof and not very affectionate. Upon its publication in 1931, the song witnessed a surge in popularity, with versions by artists like Russ Columbo and Wayne King leading the charts. Remarkably, Benny Krueger's orchestra, with vocals by Smith Ballew, and a rendition by Kate Smith also garnered substantial acclaim. In September 1943, the iconic Frank Sinatra serenaded audiences with this tune on the radio series A Date with Judy. By 1946, it was revived with studio recordings by Tommy Dorsey's orchestra featuring Stuart Foster, another by Sinatra, and one by Skinnay Ennis. In 1957, Rat Pack member Dean Martin included a passionate rendition on his album Pretty Baby, which featured orchestration arranged by Gus Levene. The song eventually became a staple of Dean Martin's repertoire, reappearing in his 1964 LP, Dream with Dean.
