Originally formed from members René Froger, Gerard Joling, Jeroen van der Boom, Jan Smit, and Gordon Heuckeroth – who left the group in 2011 – De Toppers is a Dutch Europop troupe famed for putting a spangly spin on all your pop favorites. Keen to represent the Netherlands in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with their original single "Shine," sadly De Toppers failed to make it to the final, but pursued the spotlight nonetheless. The group spent the '10s polishing their shiny brand of pop across a range of covers, including this 2017 ABBA medley. Kicking off with 1979's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" before blending seamlessly into 1975's "SOS" – the fifth single from ABBA's self-titled 1975 album – and weaving in a snippet of "Lay All Your Love On Me” until "Mamma Mia" steals the show, the roll some of Abba’s biggest hits into one mashup, adding their vocal interpretations for "ABBA Medley 2017,” which is now staple of their raucous live performances and an unrivalled crowd-pleaser.
