Sia found an unlikely collaborator for her 2021 song "Floating Through Space" – NASA. Created with previous collaborator, French DJ and producer David Guetta – with whom she has worked on a number of other songs, including hits “Titanium” and “Flames” – the track was recorded to celebrate NASA's Ingenuity test flight on Mars, the first attempt at a powered, controlled flight of an aircraft on another planet. The dance-pop bop "Floating Through Space” was first unveiled debuted during Sia's directorial feature debut Music, which courted controversy for its portrayal of a nonverbal individual with autism by a neurotypical actor. The song was featured on Sia’s eighth studio album, Music – Songs From And Inspired By The Motion Picture with its space-themed video showcasing footage of the aircraft being tested and readied for launch, as well as the Perseverance landing on Mars.
