This haunting tribute to the "King of Rock 'n' Roll" was released in September 1977, a month after the death of Elvis Presley on 16 August 1977. Co-written by the trio of Dick Bakker, Eddy Ouwens and Dunhills and brought to life by Dutch crooner Eddy Ouwens performing as Danny Mirror, "I Remember Elvis Presley (The King Is Dead)" declares Elvis Presley is "the one and only king" and features a croon eerily similar to the King himself. "I Remember Elvis Presley (The King Is Dead)," which made it to number 4 in the UK Singles Chart in October 1977, was covered that same year by Canadian singer Johnny Farago in both English and French as "Je me souviens d’Elvis Presley" "I Remember Elvis Presley (The King Is Dead)" is one of the countless sonic tributes referencing or penned to the late icon over the decades, including "DisGraceland" by Alice Cooper and "Elvis and His Boss" by The Residents.
