Gravel-voiced country troubadour Colter Wall envisioned a suited and booted satan for his 2015 single, "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie." "Well Reverend, Reverend, please come quick / 'Cause I got something to admit / I met a man out in the sticks of good Ole Miss / He drove a Series 10 Cadillac and wore a cigar on his lip," he recalls before revealing all in the chorus: "Don't you know the devil wears a suit and tie? / I saw him driving down The 61 in early July / White as a cottonfield and sharp as a knife / I heard him howling as he passed me by," he offers in the chorus. A bluesy meditation on mythology-soaked blues legend Robert Johnson – who allegedly sold his soul to the devil in order to be able to play the guitar – "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" was featured on Colter Wall's Imaginary Appalachia EP on which he also worked with Canadian singer-songwriter and producer Jason Plumb.
