The atmospheric romantic ballad "Let Somebody Go" marked the first collaboration between the English rock band Coldplay and American singer Selena Gomez. Written by Coldplay with additional input by Max Martin, Olivia Waithe, Oscar Holter, Leland Wayne, Bill Rahko, and Chris Martin's daughter Apple Martin, "Let Somebody Go" was released commercially on February 7, 2022, as the third single from their ninth studio album Music of the Spheres (2021). A poignant love song about the loss of a romantic partner, "Let Somebody Go" reached Number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 24 on the Official UK Singles Chart. Prior to its official release, the group and Selena Gomez presented the track through a live performance on the late-night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden in October 2021. In addition, an accompanying video directed by Dave Meyers premiered on the day of its release.
