After dropping a fizzy dance-pop bomb in the form of 2020 hit "Pink Pony Club"—a queer homage to drag queens, being yourself, and go-go dancing—self-proclaimed "campy" Missouri-born singer and songwriter Chappell Roan revisits similarly queer-friendly ground for "Red Wine Supernova." "She was a playboy, Brigitte Bardot / She showed me things I didn't know / She did it right there out on the deck / Put her canine teeth in the side of my neck," she sings in the first verse of "Red Wine Supernova," a red-hot exploration of sexuality. Chappell Roan placed the track second on her eagerly anticipated 2023 studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, for which she worked with Olivia Rodrigo producer Dan Nigro. Noah Conrad and Iixa were also listed as co-producers on "Red Wine Supernova." The critically acclaimed LP was released via Amusement Records, an imprint of Island Records owned by Dan Nigro.
