"Honey Don't" is an early rock 'n roll song from Carl Perkins. The song was the B-side of his hit “Blue Suede Shoes” which was released in 1956. The song has been covered by many artists including The Beatles. Ringo sings lead on the song on 1964's Beatles for Sale album. He explained that it was a song every band in Liverpool knew. John used to sing it live but Ringo was usually given one lead vocal per album so he was given "Honey Don't". Both "Honey Don't" and another Perkins’ cover "Matchbox" are rare songs that each member of the Beatles has recorded or performed on stage as a lead vocalist. The Beatles' version follows the original's arrangement but Ringo added some encouragement before George Harrison’s guitar solos, yelling out "Oh, rock on George, one time for me" and "Oh, rock on George, for Ringo one time."
