Indie-poppers Cannons turned a doomed relationship into a huge pop tune with their 2019 single "Fire for You". Originally featured on the group's 2019 EP Shadows, "Fire for You" saw its profile skyrocket after the song was featured in the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever, a coming-of-age comedy-drama show starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, which draws inspiration from Mindy Kaling's childhood experiences growing up in Boston. "Fire for You" popped up in the eighth episode of the first season of Never Have I Ever.
