An unlikely pairing at first glance, but Californian alt-rockers Cake and "Ol' Blue Eyes" actually have a lot more in common than meets the eye – America's so-called Garden State. Both artists hail from New Jersey and in their 1996 track "Frank Sinatra", Cake immortalised this connection in song. However, here the Frank Sinatra reference ends with the title; the song looks to the Big Bang theory for cosmic inspiration instead ("We know of an ancient radiation / That haunts dismembered constellations / A faintly glimmering radio station"), although its meaning is still typically ambiguous. "Frank Sinatra" was featured on Cake's second studio album Fashion Nugget – which went to number 22 in the UK and number 4 on the US Alternative Airplay Chart – and also later appeared in an episode of The Sopranos ("The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti”) as well as an episode of Daria (“Road Worrier”).
