British soft-rock one-offs Breathe dive into late-1980s drivetime ballad territory with this slow-mo delicacy "How Can I Fall?," which paints the portrait of a man keen to dump his lover although she has done no wrong. "When all faith is gone / I fight myself to carry on / Yet I know of the harm I do / What more can I say to you?" sings David Glasper. The raw and emotional tune was written by Breathe members David Glasper and Marcus Lillington and was released in June 1988 as the second single from the band's debut studio album, All That Jazz (1988)—later reissued by Cherry Pop Records in 2013. "How Can I Fall?" enjoyed success in the US where it reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The track didn't fare as well in Breathe's native UK, where it went to 48, but remains an era-defining easy listening and sophisti-pop staple.
