A worship pastor at Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Brandon Lake used his personal experiences and encounters with his Christian faith as inspiration for the 2020 track "Gratitude," a sincere thank you to God in which throws up his hands to praise Him "again and again". Brandon Lake had previously inked a deal with Californian music label and worship movement label Bethel Music in January 2019, stepping out with his debut album for the label, House of Miracles, in 2020. Sandwiched between "Wildflowers" and "Graves into Garden," "Gratitude" appeared on his first full-length as one of the LP's singles and reached number one on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. "Gratitude" was also a nominee for Song of the Year and Worship Recorded Song of the Year at the 2023 GMA Dove Awards, the most prestigious event in the contemporary worship music and contemporary Christian music calendar.
