During their heyday in the late 1970s, Massachusetts hard rockers Boston seemed unstoppable. Led by multi-instrumentalist Tom Scholz and singer Brad Delp, the band became one of the world's best-selling artists thanks to their prog-tinged brand of arena rock. Singles like "More Than a Feeling" (1976) and "Don't Look Back" (1978) rank as some of the most instantly recognizable songs from the era and have since become staples of classic rock radio. Following a lengthy legal dispute with their former manager Paul Ahern, Boston's third studio album Third Stage finally came out in 1986, almost eight years after the release of Don't Look Back. Apart from its chart-topping lead single "Amanda," Third Stage also featured the song "We're Ready," a sentimental hard rock ballad written and produced by Tom Scholz. Shortly after its commercial release, the single peaked at Number 2 on the US Album Rock Tracks chart and Number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Third Stage, its parent album, reached the top of the Billboard 200 and was certified quadruple Platinum for sales of over 4 million copies.
