“Hitch a Ride” is a song from the rock band Boston from their eponymous debut album released in 1976. The song, originally titled "San Francisco Day”, was written by bandleader Tom Scholz and sung by Brad Delp. Disco ruled the dance floor at the time but the combination of Scholtz's virtuosic guitar playing and hook-heavy songwriting topped with Delps' signature vocal style could not be stopped. The album produced several chart-topping hits including "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind". Although "Hitch a Ride" was never released as a single, all eight of the songs from the album continue to be played on classic rock stations. The album has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
