It uses a desolate electric guitar as well as synthesized beats to create a bluesy, but modern, atmosphere. “River” was written by Bishop Briggs, Ian Scott, and Mark Jackson. It was produced by Ian Scott and Mark Jackson. And though it started its life as a SoundCloud release, the single went on to become a hit, hitting Number 1 on the Spotify US Viral 50. It also peaked at Number 3 on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart, Number 10 on the US Hot Rock Songs chart, and Number 5 on the US Rock Airplay chart. In August of 2016, Bishop Briggs performed the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, marking her television debut.
