One of the oldest Christmas standards in the holiday songbook, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" was written J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie in 1934. The earliest known recording of the song was by banjoist Harry Reser, who turned it into a sheet music hit in 1934. A year later, American conductor Tommy Dorsey recorded his own version of the track for Victor Records, featuring vocals by Cliff Weston and Edythe Wright. In 1944, singer Bing Crosby joined forces with vocal group The Andrews Sisters for a big band jazz take on "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," reaching Number 22 on the Billboard charts. In the years that followed, the song was further popularized by a whole host of top-tier artists including The Supremes, The Jackson 5, Bruce Springsteen, and, more recently, Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé. It was even translated to Spanish by Latin crooner Luis Miguel, whose rendition peaked at Number 26 on Billboard's Latin Pop Airplay in 2007.
