"Time to Say Goodbye," an English/Italian duet by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, is a romantic piece of opera pop that was a hit all over Europe in the mid-1990s. The song's lyrics were penned by Lucio Quarantotto and its music was composed by Francesco Sartori, two of Andrea Bocelli's most frequent collaborators. "Con te partirò" was the strongest-performing single of all time in Belgium, where it remained at number 1 on the charts for 12 weeks, and sold nearly 1 million copies in France. The English duet also had incredible success, perhaps even wider appeal, where it sold over 3 million copies in Germany, and reached number 1 in four countries: Austria, Germany, Ireland, and Switzerland. A dance music cover version by Donna Summer went to number 1 on the Billboard US Dance Club chart, as well. "Time to Say Goodbye" has been featured prominently in television and film, even appearing in the children's show Sesame Street.
