Nutshell - Alice in Chains - MP3 instrumental karaoke

Featuring largely acoustic instrumentation, ominous lyrics, and an incendiary guitar solo, the bleak ballad "Nutshell" perfectly encapsulated Alice in Chains' musical identity and offered a snapshot of the band at the peak of its powers. With music written by Mike Inez, Jerry Cantrell, and Sean Kinney, and lyrics by Layne Staley, "Nutshell" first appeared in the group's third studio EP Jar of Flies (1994) and, even though it wasn't released as a proper single, it managed to become both a fan favorite and one of their best-known songs. The band used it as the opening song for their MTV Unplugged concert on April 10, 1996. That particular live version was the last time Alice in Chains performed it with frontman Layne Staley before his death from a drug overdose in 2002. In the years that followed, "Nutshell" became a staple of 1990s alternative rock and was covered by bands like Staind, Shinedown, and Seether.
