Formed in 2007 in the east Texas town of Palestine by Cody Cannon and Cody Tate, southern rockers Whiskey Myers found themselves in the spotlight in 2018 after they were featured on the hit Kevin Costner-starring TV series Yellowstone, appearing as part of the show's soundtrack and also on-screen performing in a bar. The self-titled album that followed their Yellowstone appearance rocketed straight to the summit of the Top Country Albums chart and was the first Whiskey Myers full-length produced by the band. An open-hearted ballad about confronting life's obstacles to emerge stronger in the face of adversity, "Heart of Stone" is the powerful closing track on the band's 2022 album Tornillo; the follow-up to Whiskey Myers that went to number ten on the Top Country Albums chart and was largely co-written by Whiskey Myers's frontman Cody Cannon, with bandmates Jamey Gleaves and Tony Kent on John Wayne, and up-and-coming singer-songwriter stepping in for two tracks.
