"Follow You to Virgie" is a song by Tyler Childers from his album Purgatory. The Kentucky native is known for weaving his life experiences into his deeply personal songs. "Follow You to Virgie" is a song about coming back home for the funeral of a friend's grandmother who was always a loving presence and supporter. "Yeah, I reckon we were heathens / But in her eyes, we were saints / Now you're calling all the boys home / 'Cause heaven's angels carried her away." Childers says it took a long time before he was ready to perform the song live. “I used to sit around the house and it took forever before I could get through the song. I’d be crying and thinking about Mamaw Johnson."
