Even though he made his debut back in 2011, it wasn't until 2017 that Kentucky-based country artist Tyler Childers got his big commercial break with his second album, the Sturgill Simpson-produced Purgatory. The success of the album, which peaked at Number 11 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, allowed the singer-songwriter to reissue some of his earlier releases, including the live EPs Live on Red Barn Radio (2013) and Live on Red Barn Radio II (2014), which were combined on the 2018 extended-play Live on Red Barn Radio I & II. Recorded with his backing band The Food Stamps, the EP included the track "Charleston Girl," a mandolin-driven bluegrass number about a wild night with a local girl he met during a trip to West Virginia. Despite not having been released as a proper single, the popularity of the song helped the live EP reach the Top 5 of Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart and Number 14 on the Independent Albums chart.
