Tom Jones aired his showstopping performance of Solomon Burke's "Cry With Me" during the blind auditions of the second week of The Voice UK's 2021 show and wowed his fellow judges—and viewers—with his incredible pipes. "Cry to Me" was written by Bert Berns (credited as "Bert Russell") and first recorded in 1961 by US soul luminary Solomon Burke, who scored career-defining success with the song the following year, landing the definitive version that charted on the Hot R&B Sides and Hot 100 singles charts. Solomun Burke's rendition of "Cry to Me" was later given a popularity boost in 1987 when it was featured on the soundtrack to the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing. "Cry to Me" has also been covered by an array of other artists from UK group Pretty Things and punks IDLES to soul singer Betty Harris. It's even been remade as an electronic dance track by Dutch DJ-producer CMC$ and Canadian DJ-producer Kilotile.
